Its just Gradish-e-Ayaam that kept me occupied for a while but anyway … here we go … back on the track …
Although I am not a whoo-hooo fan of Ahmed Faraz, but still, I appreciate his poetry a lot. Very carefully selected words, beautifully orchestrated phrases & verses, very mature content & ideas. He has many masterpieces on his credit. And I was going through one such master piece today when I thought to share it with you all.
Its his poem “Mohaasra” :
Few excerpts:
…
Tamam sufi-o-saalik, sabhi shuyukh-o-imam
ummed-e-lutf pe aewan-e-kaj-nigah men hen
Moazazzeen-e-Adaalat halaf uthaane ko
misaal-e-sayel-mubram nashista rah men hen
Tum ehl-e-harf ke pindar ke sanaa-gar they
wo aasman-e-hunar ke najoom saamne hen
bas is qadar tha ke darba se bulawa tha
gadagaran-e-sukhan ke hujoom saamne hen
And:
Mera qalam nahi kirdaar us muhafiz ka
jo apne shehar ko mehsoor ker ke naaz kare
mera qalam nahi kasaa kisi subuk sar ka
jo ghaasibon ko qaseedon se sarfaraz kare
mera qalam nahi tasbeeh us muballigh ki
jo bandagi ka bhi har dam hisaab rakhta he
mera qalam nahi meezaan aese aadil ki
jo apne chehre pe dohra naqaab rakhta he
mera qalam to amaanat he mere logon ki
mera qalam to adaalat mere zameer ki he
isi leye to jo likha tappak-e-jaan se likha
jabhi to loch kamaan ka, zubaan teer ki he
…
After listening to it, I was amazed to realize how much it relates to the state of affairs in the land of the pure. And in the same connection I would dedicate this poem to all the bloggers out there
And as they say, Soney pe sohaga, its kalam-e-shaer ba-zuban-e shaer, and its amazing. You might have read this poem before, but listening to it in his own voice is a different experience.
And a little update from March: Alhamdulillah we successfully launched communiK. Its a newsletter for my department at university. Lets hope we are able to take it along and keep it rolling
See ya !
