Go Musharraf Go

January 30, 2008 · 4 Comments

You all would be knowing about President Pervez Musharraf’s visit to UK. I was least interested in the details of what he is upto and how his visit is going on until today when I saw these videos.

The videos show the footage of the protest organized by Pakistan Thereek-e-Insaaf @ 10 downing. Flags of Pakistan Peoples Party & Pakistan Muslim League (N) are also visible. I was a little amused on hearing the language used by these youngsters out there. You know the typical local style. And BTW some of you may actually find these a bit offensive, so be warned :)

The way the guys at the lead were shouting slogans against Musharraf reminded me of my college-days protests. You see the typical student style naaras. And some of the lyrics, amazing I would say :)

A few excerpts (in Punjabi):

Hun muk gya tera show Musharraf

Go Musharraf Go Musharraf

Ghar ja ke bhande dho Musharraf

Go Musharraf Go Musharraf

Ja kalle beh ke ro Musharraf

Go Musharraf Go Musharraf

You are very slow Musharraf

Go Musharraf Go Musharraf

Interesting, isn’t it? :)

And the guys actually extended the slogan shouted by Muhammad Ali Kurd “Go Musharraf Go”, by adding one more “Musharraf” to the tail, making it “Go Musharraf Go Musharraf” and changing the tone a bit too.

A few more:

Hum (phir) chacha ban gaye

January 21, 2008 · 8 Comments

This post is a little late, as I have been a little occupied in the last two weeks, and couldn’t take time to write something. Aamir (butt sb) has been blessed with a baby girl on January 03, 2008.

Many many congrats Butt sb.

And as it has brought a new joy in butt sb’s life, it just added one more thing to worry about in mine :P Butt sb just got one more step ahead. I mean the first step was when he got married. And now, with the birth of a child; he is two steps ahead.  And he has been kind enough to continuously remind me of this fact :(

Although I think, on friends’ end, Momina will be my 6th or 7th bhateeji (the count include bhateejas as well), but she has happened to be a vital one because I see her father daily, and that too for almost 8-9 hours. And it daily reminds me to ask amman to reduce the complexity of her search algorithm. Coz its execution time is getting longer :(

Anyway, Butt sb may Allah bless your baby, and may He protect her from all the bads, and may He shower upon her all the goods. Aameen.

Lets pray & hope for the good :)

Gulon main rang bhare

January 6, 2008 · 5 Comments

Yeah, its here on my blog too :)

The ones who know me, would know; if they are talking about me & they are talking about humming, they are talking about Gulon main rang bhare, baad-e-nau bahar chalay, the master piece.

Although everybody tells me that I am really bad at singing, and in particular at this ghazal, but I know, they are all kidding :)

Anyway what triggered this post is this video that I came across while googling the ghazal. The interesting part is the movements the-guy-in-the-video makes, may be trying to depict Mehdi Hassan. I don’t know if he actually succeeds in his depiction, but he surely creates fun while doing so.

Online video-posting-facilities, such as YouTube, have become a tool for home-artists to boost themselves. Which is good. Although this one comes from Yahoo Video, and the guy doesn’t feel bad neither at ears nor at eyes.

Among few interesting things I saw while googling was, Faiz Ahmed Faiz used to say about this ghazal, that its no more mine, its Mehdi Hassan’s now [ Ab ye meri thori hi rahi he, ye to Mehdi Hassan ki he]. And Google search page agrees to what Faiz sb said. You only get one result pointing to Faiz sb, the first one, and rest are all pointing to Mehdi Hassan, to his credit.

Also, this ghazal was Mehdi Hassan’s first on Pakistani media. He debuted in 1952 from Radio Pakistan Lahore, where he recorded this ghazal.

Yes, we also have the real version available on YouTube

And just to add to your read, I am putting it here:

The whole of it is great but the Maqta, awesome !!!

P.S. There are few misspelled words in Urdu script, please ignore those.

Bilawal Bhutto goes off-book

January 3, 2008 · 5 Comments

Now this is hilarious.

Somebody set up  an account on Facebook with the credentials of BB’s son Bilawal. He pretended to be Bilawal. And put up some stuff, including his love for Buffy stuff, related to him up there. Put some quotes from BB and boom. The profile is ready.

Bilawal’s facebook profile

A snap of Bilawal’s profile.

The profile has been quite a buzzword on Facebook, and as Mr. “Somebody” says: received condolences, interview calls, friendship request etc etc.

“Facebook on Thursday said two purported profiles of slain Pakistan politician Benazir Bhutto’s son Bilawal were not authentic, and that the company had taken them down”, Yahoo reports.

Radar Online has stories both before and after the news broke.

And I was about to believe all being said, when I came across this. I am confused whom to believe.
